RECOVERY GUIDE

Supported Wallet Files

Understand wallet formats, encryption differences, and compatibility boundaries.

A name is not a file specification

Wallet applications can change database formats and encryption methods between releases. A wallet brand in the directory does not mean all of its exports, backups, devices, or versions are interchangeable.

The product owner supplied the supported-wallet list. Independent verification dates and most exact file-format specifications have not yet been provided; see each directory entry for that distinction.

Bitcoin Core and wallet.dat

Bitcoin Core wallet.dat files may use different database formats and wallet configurations. The supplied client interface shows a SQLite example; do not assume every legacy or descriptor-wallet file is supported.

Work on a backup and let the client inspect the file. An extension alone does not prove that the contents are compatible or valid.

Unsupported or damaged files

If inspection fails, confirm the original wallet software and version. A missing file, corrupted backup, seed-phrase problem, or locked hardware device is a different recovery problem. Never send a real wallet file to support.

Never share recovery phrases, private keys, wallet passwords, wallet files, or password dictionaries. Prepare a sanitized support report if you need help.
