Choose an appropriate thread count
The CPU engine can allocate parallel worker threads when supported by the algorithm and build. Start with a moderate allocation and leave capacity for your operating system and other applications.
The supplied interface recommends keeping a thread free for the system. The best setting depends on your processor, thermal limits, power settings, and workload.
Watch the task, not a promised benchmark
Use measured progress to evaluate your settings. More threads may not scale linearly and can make the machine less responsive.
The CPU thread setting does not control the Hashcat GPU engine shown in the application. No universal speed or performance multiplier is guaranteed.
